Sherlock Holmes is probably Shane Ritchie’s best movie so far (apart from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels).
Robert Downey Jr (Sherlock Holmes) and Jude Law (Dr Watson) bring life to characters that have usually been portrayed as obviously intellectual, but ultimately a little bit boring and staid. In this version the pair are rather more swashbuckling and engage in fist fights, gun fights and other adventures. The on screen chemistry between the two is very strong and you will find yourself laughing out loud more than once.
The ‘real’ Sherlock Holmes
The whole film doesn’t feel so much like Holmes as a strange and unwanted sequel to Will Smith’s Wild Wild West.
